How to Clean Your Flat Screen TV

A big television or a large monitor are investments that you want to preserve with routine cleaning. The trouble is in how consumers clean their electronics, and specifically, their television screen. There are some do's and don'ts when it comes to keeping the screen clean, while not risking any method that may damage or compromise the function and clarity of it.

Some simple cleaning solutions and consumer tips for keeping screens pristine include these:

Cleaning with micro-fiber.

Soft, lush micro-fiber cloths are the best for safely wiping and cleaning the screens of your television, computer, laptop, or any touch-screen device that you may have. These attract dust and pull it into the soft folds of the cloth, which trap it without scratching or causing harm to the screen. Invest in a couple of these, which are found in a wide variety of retail venues.

Make your own solution.

If wiping with a micro-fiber cloth isn't enough to clean the screen, try mixing a solution of half white vinegar and half distilled water. Not only is this the safest solution for sensitive screens, it is very inexpensive, too. Dab the corner of a soft cloth, preferably micro-fiber, in the solution and gently wipe the screen. Allow to air-dry or dry gently with a micro-fiber cloth.

Avoid common mishaps.

Consumers should always avoid cleaning with any solutions that are sprayed onto the screen; wiping a little bit at a time is a far safer approach to take. Also, avoid any harsh cleaning solutions that could potentially contain ammonia, alcohol, or acetone in them. Don't use paper towels or tissues, as these may actually scratch the screen.

Your large-screen television is an investment, so be sure to use methods that won't compromise or potentially damage this belonging. Use care and invest in some micro-fiber cloths to keep the screens in the home clean, clear, and functional.
