1. Does my TV Have Disney+?
It’s almost getting to the one year anniversary of Disney+, and the streaming platform continues to add new shows and movies -- though not all of them have quite been on the same level of “The Mandalorian.”
Still, we know that people are searching for shows and trying to figure out how to get Disney+ to work, so we thought we’d throw a magical helping hand your way.
Disney+ is supported on Android TVs, LG smart TVs, Samsung TVs, Roku, Vizion, Chromecast, Apple TV, the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and certain web browsers. Any of these devices will let you watch everything the house of mouse has on their streaming platform.
2. What is HBO Max?
OK, hold on for a second, because this one is going to get a little complicated.
HBO Max is HBO’s -- and Warner Bros. -- streaming platform. It’s new, it’s not something you’ve had before, and no, it isn’t HBO Now or HBO Go -- both of which are going away to hopefully fix some of this confusion.
HBO Max also includes originals, movies, and a lot more than just HBO programming, but those are the basics of it. If you are looking for the new streaming service, you are looking for HBO Max.
3. What about Amazon Prime?
Oh yeah, don’t worry, we didn’t forget Amazon. Amazon Prime Video is included with Amazon Prime subscriptions, and is yet another streaming service, this one, of course, under Amazon’s banner of products.
Prime Video also has exclusive originals -- like “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Homecoming,” and “Mozart in the Jungle.”
4. What’s the best streaming service?
We get asked this one a lot, but it really comes down to personal preference! For families, it is hard to say no to the kid-friendly lineup that Disney+ has.
Hulu has done a lot to increase its presence the past few years, and has a lot of content that you can’t find anyplace else. HBO Max is new, but is also home to D.C., HBO content, and things like “Sesame Street,” “The Lord of the Rings,” and is the only place you can stream any of the Ghibli works, as well.
Netflix is still king in a lot of areas, both with its original content and the sheer number of movies and TV shows it has under its umbrella. But everybody else is doing what they can to catch up, so that might not hold true forever.
It’s been a busy year for streaming, which is good for all the movie and TV fans out there! There’s a lot of new stuff coming out every month -- more than enough to keep even the biggest binger in the family happy.
Of course, if your TV isn’t quite up to snuff -- or you are having problems with any of your electronics -- give us a call! We’re here to help make sure your entertainment is always working at its best.
