A 4K TV
This might seem like a no brainer, but if you want to enjoy 4K content, your TV needs to be able to display it.
If you have an HD set that’s a few years old, you are going to need something new. 4K resolution is higher than the 1080p HD you are used to, so it makes sense that you’ll have to upgrade to get a screen that uses the new resolution -- it’s not something that can just be added in to a new TV after the fact.
A 4K Source
If you want to enjoy the detail and quality of 4K content, you need something that is going to provide that content for you. Some streaming sites offer 4K content -- but not every show or movie is up to the standard. Regular Blu-ray discs also aren’t 4K, which means you need to upgrade both your disc collection and your Blu-ray player.
Now, some 4K TVs will upscale content that isn’t in 4K, but if you want the best picture possible, go with a 4K source proper.
A TV Stand/Wall Mount
Chances are the new TV you get is going to be slimmer, sleeker, and smaller than whatever you had before. This means that there is going to be a visual difference in your home theater set up, and you are going to want to make the most of that.
Maybe it means finally getting a wall mount for your TV, or changing out that old bulky TV stand for a newer one that goes better with your modern TV. Either way, it’s a great chance to start over with your TV decor and really think about how you want your TV to look in your space.
Surround Sound
Well, OK, technically you don’t need new speakers to go with your 4K TV, but if you are going to be enjoying TV shows and movies at the best resolution, you should listen to them in the best way possible, too. And the best way is not the built-in speakers that come with your TV. Not even close.
Instead, opt for some surround sound speakers. You may be surprised at how much of a difference new speakers will make!
