You can dance if you want to, but don't forget to sing along.
We're big fans of HD and 4K content, but we have a confession make: We're also big fans of musicals. And anything that brings great visuals and sound together? Well, then we're simply ecstatic.
To help pass the musical baton around a bit, we decided to put together a list of some fantastic musicals you can check out at home, available in either pristine and stunning 4K UDH, or regular 1080p HD.
These movies make great showpieces for any new 4K system, so get ready to show your friends and family just how good movies can look in the upgraded format. And by watching musicals, you are taking your new 4K TV out for a test drive with some song and dance numbers that also pushes your speaker system to its height, giving you an amazing video and audio presentation. OK, let's go -- it's show time!
1. Hamilton (Disney+, 4K)
After years of wondering and waiting, "Hamilton" has arrived in movie format. Even better, the smash-hit musical is available via streaming in 4K on Disney+, giving you the best quality version of Lin-Manuel Miranda's American historical magnum opus this side of Broadway.
So, get ready to sing your way through early American history and follow in Alexander Hamilton's foot, and er, dancing, steps. Take your seat in the room where it happens, and enjoy top-notch theater right from the comfort of your own home.
2. The Greatest Showman (4K Blu-ray)
This one is about a circus, not a factory. With an ensemble cast, featuring Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Zendaya, and Keala Settle, this original musical is a pure feast for the eyes and ears. "The Greatest Showman" tells the story of P.T. Barnum and chronicles the creation of the Barnum & Bailey circus -- and does so with a flair for spectacle and musical gallantry.
It's a showstopper, that's for sure, and there's good reason you'll see this film used in many theater demos -- it looks and sounds great in its 4K presentation.
Don't miss out on this stunning tour-de-force. Give us a call today and we'll be glad to help you get set up with a 4K home theater of your own in which you and your family will be able to enjoy the finer -- and more musical -- side of life.
3. "Les Miserables" (Blu-ray)
Hugh Jackman makes his second appearance on this list, with the 2012 version of the hit musical "Les Miserables." While it may have gotten mixed reactions from fans, there's still so much to enjoy in this version, any musical fan shouldn't want to pass it up.
While it hasn't yet been released in 4K, this film is a great way to check out the 4K upscaling properties of your Blu-ray player and TV. Wait ... what's that? You say you don't have an upscaling 4K TV? Those movies aren't going to look better all by themselves -- and an upscaling TV can make all of your SD or 1080p content look better than ever. Stop by today and we'll be happy to show you all the upgrade options available for your home theater system.
4. "Mamma Mia!" (4K Blu-ray)
What do you get when you mix together the music of ABBA, Meryl Streep, and Amanda Seyfried? Don't look to far for the answer, it's the movie version of the hit musical "Mamma Mia!"
Oh, and if one "Mamma Mia!" isn't enough for you, you can also pick up the sequel -- "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again" in 4K, as well. Grab some popcorn, recline your seat, and get ready to make it a double feature night, full of music and delight.
5. "Grease" (4K Blu-Ray)
It's time to get together for the 40th anniversary edition of everybody's favorite musical trip to Rydell High. If musicals are like wine and only get better with time, than John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John's musical menagerie is sweeter than even in 4K. Take a step back in time (technically, twice) and get ready to relive all your favorite songs all over again, this time in the clarity and detail that only 4K resolution can give you.
Don't let the curtain close here, though! If you haven't yet upgraded to a 4K TV, or are looking at further options to deck out your home theater system, give us a call today!
