Have you watched anything good lately?
If you are like most of us, you probably haven’t really been to the movie theater in a while, which means that your exposure to new movies is probably limited to what you can stream, download, or watch at home.
Watching movies at home can be just as good as going out to the theater, though! With a 4K TV and a 4K Blu-ray player, you can easily create a stunning silver-screen showcase right from your couch – throw in a quality surround system and you might not even be able to tell you aren’t in the theater anymore.
Of course, you still have to find stuff to watch on it.
That’s where we come in! We haven’t done one of these lists for a little bit, so we wanted to catch up and take a look at some 4K releases that you simply won’t want to miss this spring. With releases like these, even if/when things open back up, you may find it hard to leave your couch after all. Warm up that popcorn, and let’s see what 4K has for us over the next few months!
The Ten Commandments (March 30)
We’ve got a first timer here, as March 30 marks the first time that Cecil B. DeMille’s 1956 movie The Ten Commandments will be released in 4K. Follow Moses (Charlton Heston) through Egypt, his life under the Pharaoh, his sea-parting journey. and bringing the Ten Commandments down from Mount Sinai. The extra detail and HDR color are only going to make this shot-on-location-in-Egypt-and-Sinai film feel even larger than life than it already does. Get ready to be transported back both to Moses’ time and back to a whole other era of movie making, as well.
Wonder Woman 1984 (March 23)
If you didn’t get a chance to see Wonder Woman’s latest romp when it released on HBO Max last year, your chance to check out the film in all the glory of a physical 4K Blu-ray release is finally here. Gal Gadot returns as the titular heroine in this action-packed adventure through the ’80s, and while this sequel didn’t quite stir up the same praise and fanfare as the original, it still should be a treat to watch in 4K from the comfort of your home.
Of course, you can’t watch 4K movies without a 4K TV or a 4K Blu-ray player, and you just so happen to be on the website of the best place in town to shop for such electronics! No matter what your technology needs are, feel free to give us a call or stop in today and we’ll be glad to help you start, plan, and install your next big home project.
Monster Hunter (March 2)
From the creative team that brought the Resident Evil movies to life comes video game developer Capcom’s latest video game series turned movie. Monster Hunter did get a theater release last year, but we reckon this is the first time most people will get to check the film out.
Only time will tell how fans of the smash-hit video game series receive the film, but if you are a fan of giant-monster movies like Godzilla, Monster Hunter should prove a scratch for that particular itch.
Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro (January 26)
We’ve gone and passed this one by a few months now, but this release of one of the earlier works of award-winning director Hayao Miyazaki is worth revisiting. This 40th anniversary edition also comes with HDR, so get ready to see some of Miyazaki’s trademark beautiful animation with added color range and depth.
